Bangkok Traffic Issues: How can we solve them?

Bangkok, just like many mega cities throughout the world, is suffering with its large amount of car traffic. As we all know, it is the common vision for the authorities throughout the world to switch the dependency of private vehicle transportation toward using the public transportation in order to ease the traffic problem. In order to do so, it is undeniable that the city must have the sufficient public transportation system. Personally, I have been traveled to many large cities throughout the world, it is upon my sight that Bangkok's current transportation system is highly inefficient.
Bangkok's metropolis area has at least 8 millions populations. Therefore, it is highly advisable that the city's mass transportation system should be highly efficient in order to prevent its citizens from facing terrors while travelling from one place to another. Unfortunately, the current transportation system seems to be a little far behind the point of "efficiency".
At this moment, Bangkok has at least three mass transit systems, namely Mass Transit System (MRT), Bangkok Transit System (BTS Skytrain), and Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link. The question is, how could we possibly make use of all the mass transit systems we have at this moment to ease the traffic issue in Bangkok.

Within many other cities of the similiar size, every mass transit systems were widely expanded to cover almost every corners of the city. Citizens can freely travel by the public transportation without requiring their private vehicles. Also, the widely expanded public transportation system means everyone will then be able to travel at a faster pace in many different places according to their personal needs. Imagine a city of few millions population with insuffficent public transportation, how chaos could that be?

Bangkok, in the other hand, has many public transportation systems. However, none of them seems to be sufficient enough in comparative to the city's size. BTS Skytrain covers approximately about 20% of the entire city, while MRT is of no difference. Moreover, the public bus system in Bangkok, at this moment, is also not preferred by many citizens due to its inablility to fully facilitate the passengers with conforts and accurate timing schedule.

If the traffic problems need to be solved, then the authorities might need to know how to draw people from using their private vehicles into using the public transportation system. Such as expanding the mass transit systems to cover most of the areas throughout the city, as well as providing a "better" bus system that the passengers would feel more confortable to utilize. In addition, the authorities might also notice that the mass transportation systems are not always meant to follow the expansion of the city. But also, the mass transportation systems can as well lead the expansion of the city in the way that we can fully control.

As always, the right vision is an imperative requirement...
